Renewable Energy :: Solar Thermal and Feed In Tariffs

Solar Thermal technology is similar to Solar PV, except that solar thermal collects latent heat from the surrounding air and uses this to power internal heat and electricity generation. Solar heat energy is collectable even if air temperature falls below -20 degrees centigrade.

There are two types of solar water heating panels, they are evacuated tubes (like in the picture above) and flat plate collectors. Flat plates collectors can be fixed on the roof tiles or integrated into the roof. A boiler or immersion heater can be used as a back up to heat the water further to reach the temperature set by the cylinders thermostat when the solar water heating system does not reach that temperature. (The cylinder thermostat should be set at 60 degrees centigrade.)

Heyside Juniors :: Glory at Failsworth Soccer Centre

Sponsored by Rhodes Hill, the under – 11′s light blue Heyside Junior soccer team warmed the hearts of supporters during their 4 -1 victory over rivals Moston Valley. Although a bitter wind blew from the skies, the heat of play was capitalised by man of the match player Joseph Balmforth-Beaver who successfully secured a hat-trick during the closing stages of the second half. Midfielder Saul Prince completed the 4 goals tally with a strike during the first half.

Wet rooms used to be associated with expensive houses and high living. They were the domain of the rich and famous in their Mediterranean villas or Beverley Hills estates. Not any more. As more home owners decide to refurbish their homes instead of selling, there’s been a growth in popularity of wet rooms for ‘regular households’…

If you’re thinking of redesigning your bathroom, it’s worth seeing if there’s room for a wet room. Wet rooms can in fact be walk-in shower units on the same floor level as the rest of the bathroom. Alternatively you can create a wet room from a very small separate space such as downstairs cloakroom or extension.
